Keren Dovid Kollel was set up in memory of Rebbetzin Tziporah Heller’s late husband Rabbi Heller, Reb Avraham Dovid ben Zeev ztz'l. Rabbi Heller brought his love of Torah into this world in a very real and practical way and spent much of his life supporting Torah and bringing Torah to others. The Keren Dovid Kollel enables you to do the same.
A man of deeds, not words, he was a man of profound humility, not because he had no ideas of his own, or no passions, but because he lived in absolute submission to the Torah and and love of Torah and those who learn Torah. He brought this love of Torah to the real world. His integrity was the stuff that stories are made of. He was a living embodiment of the ladder that Yaakov saw in his dream; his feet were on this earth, but his head was in the heavens. The honor that he ran away from during his lifetime caught up with him at his death. The funeral was enormous, the sort of funeral that is usually reserved for people who are far more well known. It was a great comfort to us to hear how clearly other people saw what we thought we were the only ones to glimpse.
"One of the most important things that I resolved to do after my husband's passing was to be sure that the mesiras nefesh that he had for Torah and for those who learn Torah remains with us.
There are young men learning an amud (page) of Mishneh Brurah every night. They have committed to review it on Fridays and Shabbos, and take tests on the week’s study on Sundays. The outcome will be people who know how to bring the Torah down to earth through halachah. Your part in this is real, and will stand for you and for us, not only for them. It will bring merit to you and your family, and create a bond with our family as well as the young men who are learning."
